Egypt finally issued "The economic courts law" (Law No. 120 of 2008) in response to criticism by investors that their investment, economic and commercial disputes take longer than necessary to be settled. The new law which creates special courts to settle commercial disputes under modified procedural rules aims to have these disputes settled by specialized courts and qualified judges. The law also aims to help improve the doing business environment since the quality of litigation procedures in the investment and economic cases is a major criteria for measuring the effectiveness of the investment climate.
